High blood cholesterol problem may lead to the critical complications such as cardiac problems that may prove to be fatal in the due course of time. You may have high blood cholesterol due to several reasons. You may control some of the factors, but some of them can’t be controlled. Your lifestyle is reckoned as one of the most significant factors leading to high blood cholesterol. However, it is commonly found that people going through a perfectly healthy lifestyle may suffer from high blood cholesterol. This may be a hereditary factor which is one of the most significant factors influencing cholesterol in our blood stream.

Normally, our body produces a certain amount of cholesterol. The individuals, who are predisposed with the risk for high blood cholesterol problem, can only depend on medications as prescribed by expert health practitioners. Of course, they need to maintain their lifestyle as well. But these are not everything. You need to have a full balanced diet comprising of healthy foods that lower cholesterol. This will certainly help you to go through a cholesterol-busting dietary journey.

Prior to selecting healthy foods that lower cholesterol, you need to work on some important factors such as weight management. Let us explore some of them.

Lose weight: You need to check your body weight regularly. If your weight is increasing, you should be careful before it all gets worse. If you find yourself overweight, take the appropriate measure immediately to lose your weight.

Stay active: Assume a hypothetical situation that you work for 8 hours long, sitting in front of the computer, and then you come back and have your dinner, and then go to bed for sleep; you are in danger. You are running a high risk of having several complications such as high cholesterol. Even doing some simple exercises such as walking for an hour daily can help you manage your cholesterol level. If you can include exercise in your daily schedule, it means you are on your way to manage level of triglyceride and blood pressure.

Avoid fat: You should always depend on foods that lower cholesterol, so avoid taking food that includes saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol. You can either completely eliminate these elements from your diet, or you may at least minimize the consumption of the same.

Good Food

Now switch your diet to good foods that lower cholesterol. If you are having high blood cholesterol, or if you are highly susceptible about having the same, the first thing doctor will suggest to you is to increase your intake of food high in soluble fiber. Soluble fiber particularly helps manage your high cholesterol by absorbing it and then extracting it out of the body throughout the digestive system. Apples, blackberries, oranges, apricots, peas, beans, broccoli, grapefruit, and sweet potato are known to be the good source of soluble fiber.

Next that comes in line is of course omega 3 fatty acids. These are well-respected foods that lower cholesterol up to a significant level. You can have mackerel, salmon, sardines, and many others in your daily diet to fulfill the demand for omega 3 fatty acids in your system. Omega 3 fatty acids also help minimize cardiovascular problems. If you do not like to take so much fatty fishes, you can always depend on substitute foods that lower cholesterol such as walnuts, soybeans, and ground flax.

Besides, you may add sterols in your healthy diet. Sterols are nutritional substances that you may find in nature. Typically, it is found in the plant cell membranes. Pistachio nuts, sunflower seeds, and wheat germ contain high volume of sterols. Sterols actually resemble the chemical structuring almost similar to cholesterol. If you take sterol in your diet, it contends cholesterol for accessing receptors located in the small intestines. Thus, it minimizes the production of cholesterol by effectively blocking its access to the small intestines. Hence, it results in effective management of cholesterol level in the body.

Would you like to try sushi? With the rise in popularity of sushi in western countries you may be invited by friends to join them at the local sushi bar. The Itamae (sushi chef) traditionally needs to train for 10 years before being hired to prepare sushi. There are four main types of sushi you can order:

Nigiri sushi: nigiri means “grab”. These are hand pressed balls of rice with raw fish on top and bit of wasabi between the fish and rice.

Sashimi: sliced raw fish (technically not sushi since the term sushi refers to the rice and sashimi is not prepared with any rice).

Maki sushi: maki means “roll”. The maki sushi is rolled with bamboo mats.

Temaki is a hand rolled version of Maki. It is cone shaped like an ice cream cone.

Sushi comes in an amazing variety of combinations, however you’ll find these common ingredients or garnishes with nearly every version:

The word sushi actually refers to The rice, also called ’sticky rice’. Sushi rice is short grained and cooked with a 1:1 ratio of water.

Wasabi: Japanese horseradish.

Gari: Thinly sliced, pickled ginger is also served with sushi.

Nori: The seaweed sheets used to roll rice for sushi.

Soya Sauce (Shoyu): used as a dipping sauce. The wasabi can also be mixed with the soya sauce for those who enjoy the intense flavor.

Sushi can be made with a single ingredient or several. Single ingredients include avocado, cucumber (kappa), tuna (tekka or maguro) or salmon (sake – but not the rice wine).

Despite what you may think, the nori (seaweed) has very little flavor and is nearly undetectable when combined with the flavors of the sushi and the addition of soya sauce or wasabi.

Salads come in all sorts of styles, combinations, and are served with so many various toppings, that you could probably find a different salad for every day of the month.

One of my most favorite choices in dining is to go to the local buffet (they have a fabulous salad bar) and eat till my heart is content of the salad choices offered.

If you’re going to build a great salad, you have to start with a great lettuce. Once you have the proper foundation, your salad is a breeze. All sorts of toppings can be added, to build the gourmet salad. Usually you find onions, tomatoes, green pepper, jalapeno pepper, banana pepper, ham, eggs, turkey, and cheese. Mushrooms, olives, pickled okra, bacon bits, and macaroni salad. Pepperoni, salami, croutons, and crackers. Cottage cheese, three bean salad, broccoli and cauliflower.

Now we approach the salad dressings. I love blue cheese and ranch. I also love balsamic vinaigrette and Italian. Alright, we’ve built the perfect salad. Now would you like to hear about the wonderful health benefits of a salad? Salads can be as high in calorie and fat content as a cheeseburger from the local McDonalds.

How can you eat a salad and still eat healthy? Lay off the cheeses, the meats, the cream based salad dressings. Stick to the pickled, the fresh produce, and the vinegar based dressings. For instance, pizza and pasta are worse than cheeseburgers for calorie content, and much higher in fat.

Here’s the top eight most common food allergies :

1. Milk and dairy products.
Problem Source: a lot of restaurant food is prepared on a common grill. Butter and cream is often used in many products. Even products labeled as “nondairy” may contain a substance or compound derived from milk or dairy.

2. Eggs
Egg whites are also a source of problem for many. Eggs substitutes are known to use egg whites in an attempt to be heart healthy and limit cholesterol. If you have a sensitivity to eggs, most pasta including macaroni and spaghetti can cause a problem.

3. Peanuts
Consider the fact that although a person with a peanut allergy may simply order an ice cream cone at the local Dairy Queen, the cone itself, wrapper and most probably the counters may have all come in contact with peanut toppings.

4. Tree nuts (such as almonds, cashews, walnuts)
Here, the problem is more with cooking oils than anything else. Foods can be prepared in a variety of oils that are derived from nuts. Many foods use oils in the manufacturing of the product. Modern food manufacturing also can cause cross-contamination or contact as many foods are made using the same equipment. Tree Nut shells have also found their way into many common products as an abrasive.

5. Fish
While identifying are fishy friends from the ocean is relatively easy, don’t forget that a lot of prepackaged sauces may also contain fish oils and products. Common steak and Worcestershire sauces may contain in anchovy dish

6. Shellfish – shrimp and lobster
Cross contact contamination in restaurants is a big issue here. Your nice big steak may have been sizzling right next to the other diners stack of shrimp
Watch also when going in for medical tests. This is especially true for any MRI type test that requires dye injections. Depending on the body part to be examined, a contrast medium or dye can be injected into your veins. These contrast mediums can be shellfish based!

7. Soy
Although considered a healthy product, for someone with a story and tolerance many foods. Cereals, soups, infant formulas, prepackaged sauces, and many baked goods can all use soy or soy products in their recipes.

8. Wheat and Gluten
From a food perspective, this is probably one of the most challenging to keep under control. Wheat-based products and gluten are used in many products. Think flour. We’re talking about most baked goods, all breads, rolls, crackers, tortillas, fried foods breading and anything else where flour is an ingredient.

Anyone can maintain a good health just by following two essential points – (1) have fat and cholesterol free healthy diet and (2) do exercise (or simply walk). Health practitioners usually do not suggest their clients to stay on fasting, rather they prefer to suggest them having nutritional food that eventually contribute to weight loss.

Chilled Soups

Cold or chilled soups can serve the purpose of low calorie dishes. It is excellent to take prior having meal. Also several health researchers confirm that having this type of low-calorie broth-based soup can actually minimize the amount of meal you can intake by providing you a sense of fullness.

Watermelon

Most of the health experts recommend having watermelon if you are really serious about loosing or maintaining your weight. Watermelon, being one of the best weight loss foods, satisfies your demand for fluid in the body while providing you a sweet flavor and a sense of fullness. Watermelon contains carotenoid compounds like lycopene and beta carotene that offer a wide range of health benefits ranging from immunizing against cancer to preventing from sun-burn. The juice of watermelon in combination with cucumber is an excellent delicious weight loss choice.

Grilled Veggie

Without a dish of grilled vegetable on your dinning table, your diet plan with weight loss foods may not be adequate enough. You may add grilled onion, eggplant, carrots, garlic, zucchini and asparagus as a part of your healthy diet.

Salad

No one can possibly avoid having salad in their daily diet if he or she really cares to stay tuned. It is not only one of the healthy weight loss foods, but also easy to prepare. A handful of toasted nuts with whole grain roll, salad greens, ginger vinaigrette or raspberry can provide you a wonderful delicious salad with a promise of well health. You may garnish the salads using herbs from your kitchen garden and a sprinkle of the herbs like rosemary, thyme, sage and parsley can make all the difference. Apart from that you may take several health drinks that never blow your diet. These may include root bear, white wine spritzer, tart lemon pom spritzer and many others. Mostly these beverages are prepared with lemon juice, and pure drinking water. In case of white wine spritzer, you need to add white wine.

Fruit Desserts

Most of us feel that without a dessert at the end of the meal, the meal seems incomplete. But desserts have a high risk for promoting fat and cholesterol to our health system. If you prepare them with natural fruits such as grilled white peaches mixed with blackberries and honey, it will definitely add no extra calories to your diet and offer you an experience of weight loss foods in return.

Acid in the stomach is important for the proper digestion of the food one eats. The acid is not the cause of acid reflux, the food and the condition of the stomach are the main culprits of the reflux. The muscle then closes to prevent the food and acid from coming back up into the esophagus. Once the food and acid backs up into the esophagus a person may experience heartburn, which is the symptom of acid reflux. Chewing the food thoroughly will ensure that the stomach has enough acid during mealtime and thus preventing the acid from coming back up into the esophagus.

Treating acid reflux naturally is an alternative way of stopping the acid from reflux. Before, acid reflux is treated using antacids, H2 antagonist, histamines and proton pump inhibitors, which according to studies only worsen the condition. According to studies, too much liquid dilutes the acid needed by the stomach in digesting the food. Eating large meals is another cause of acid reflux. Treating acid reflux naturally will surely help the body to overcome the recurrence of the said condition. Antacids cut down the acid that the stomach needs. Treating acid reflux naturally decreases the risk of harmful effects. Chewing gum before and after meals will help the stomach releases unwanted amount of acid. Changing eating habits is another natural way of treating acid reflux. Person suffering from heartburn because of acid reflux should be very conscious of what he eats. Acidic food should be avoided and the person with acid reflux should eat smaller meals every couple of hours instead of eating two or three large meals.

What Causes Type 1 Diabetes?

Even with the modern technology and information available today, Type 1 Diabetes causes remain a mystery to the medical world. There is no one certain cause that can be linked to the onset of diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the body’s defense system attacks and destroys its own cells.

It is believed that one Type 1 Diabetes cause is genetics. Some people may be genetically inclined to develop the disease and viruses such as Coxsackie, rubella, and mumps can trigger the onset of the disease. The Type 1 Diabetes cause is not the viral infection, however the infection may trigger the symptoms of the disease.

What Does Not Cause Type 1 Diabetes?

When a disease that is as prevalent in society as Type 1 Diabetes has no known cause, myths become a part of the mystery. Here are some of the myths surrounding Type 1 Diabetes causes:

1. Eating two much sugar causes diabetes this myth is based on the fact that diabetes involves a high content of sugars in your blood. Consuming too much sugar can trigger the onset of some of the symptoms of diabetes, however, the cause of the disease is not the intake of too much sugar.

2. Stress causes diabetes while stress can trigger some of the symptoms of diabetes, stress does not cause the disease.

3. Diabetes can be caught from another person diabetes is not a contagious disease and cannot be transferred from one person to another.

It is often believed that people who have been diagnosed with diabetes can never consume foods that contain sugars or starches, however these foods can be consumed within a healthy diet plan. Diet and other factors do not cause diabetes, but are often the triggers that cause the onset of the disease and the symptoms that alert you to the possibility of being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
