Neti Pot to help improve breathing

One of the natural ways to improve breathing and your overall health is by using the neti pot.  The neti pot was introduced by the Himalayan Institute over 35 years ago and today many practitioners both in the medical and complementary field tout its benefits.

Nevertheless, the use of saline solution for rinsing nose and throat have been used both in Ayurvedic medicine and in western folklore healing for centuries.

Some of the benefits of using neti pot are that it:

  • Soothes dry nasal passages
  • Gently washes away dust, pollen, and environmental irritants
  • Offsets the effects of breathing dry indoor air (especially in winter and air travel)
  • Removes excess mucus due to congestion

The neti pot can be used as part of your daily lifestyle as it improves the health of the nasal lining and reduces inflammation and nasal congestion.  When you breathe through your nose the air is filtered and warmed before it reaches your throat.  The nasal passageway is lined with a thin layer of mucus that traps  bacteria, pollen, and airborn pollutants, and then moves towards the back of the nasal cavity  reaching the throat and swallowed.  From there it reaches the lungs and stomach.

When you use the neti pot, you cleanse those irritants before they reach your throat and settle in, thus causing inflammation and possible sickness.   Especially during allergy and cold season, using neti pot daily may have great health benefits.

  1. This is a great pollen for those with allergies or sinus problems. I recently bought one and think it’s great. Really easy to use too.
