The devastated mom said a Los Angeles County Coroner official called with the report after an autopsy was performed Thursday.

The news followed revelations that the admitted addict, 38, had prescriptions for Valium, Vicodin and a muscle relaxant in the Burbank apartment he shared with his mom.

“No final cause of death has yet been established. We still have outstanding tests we are waiting for,” Chief Coroner Investigator Craig Harvey said late Thursday.

Harvey declined to confirm any autopsy findings, but Haim’s agent told the News his client confided that he knew he had a heart condition.

“He told me he had a skip in his heart, nothing major,” Haim’s manager Mark Heaslip said.

Heaslip said it’s possible the heart condition played a role in Haim’s death and reiterated doubts that Haim was back in the grip of deadly addiction.

He said Haim had weaned himself from serious pill-popping and was working with a new addiction specialist.

He believes the four prescription bottles found in Haim’s apartment came from the new doctor.

A different source said three of the prescriptions were for the sedative Valium, the narcotic Vicodin and the muscle relaxant Soma.

The fourth prescription was the anti-psychotic drug haloperidol, according to TMZ.com.

“I truly hope it wasn’t an overdose,” Heaslip said. “But (Corey Haim) wasn’t a doctor. If someone is giving him the wrong prescriptions, it’s the doctor who should know better.”

He said Haim had seen the new doctor only once in recent weeks as part of a plan to stay healthy and sober for a string of leading film roles he’d accepted. Heaslip said Haim’s sobriety was a condition of their one and a half year working relationship, and the actor demanded sober sets to stay on the straight and narrow.

The Canadian-born actor starred in ’80’s hits “Lucas” and “The Lost Boys” but was known more recently for the A&E reality show “The Two Coreys” about his friendship with fellow former teen idol Corey Feldman.

Sources said Haim had been suffering flu-like symptoms in the days leading up to his untimely death.

He’d been running a fever of 99 to 101 degrees and complained of shortness of breath shortly before he dropped to his knees in his bedroom and became unresponsive, Heaslip said.

Haim’s mom Judy Haim worried that paramedics took too long to respond to the 911 call she placed at 12:53 a.m., Heaslip said.
She said it felt like responders took 20 minutes to arrive, he said. Officials refuted that claim.

“We were on scene with the first arriving paramedics within six minutes,” Los Angeles Fire Department Spokesman Steve Ruda told the News.

“She is very, very upset. They were extremely close,” Heaslip said, adding that Haim was helping her battle breast cancer.
“He supported her all the way through the chemo and radiation. He surprised her with a really nice wig. He really took good care of her,” the agent said.

Feldman, who appeared on Larry King Live Wednesday night, said Haim was “very destitute, very broke,” had no car and few friends.

“At the end of the day, Larry, where were all these people the last 10 years, the last 15 years of Corey’s life?” asked Feldman, also 38. “Where were all these people to lend a hand out, to reach out to him and say, you know, you’re a legend, you’re – you’re an amazingly talented, wonderful person who’s really never gone out of his way to hurt anybody other than himself?”

Feldman also said Haim was recently seeing a new treatment specialist who put him on a new line of medications. Feldman did not specify which they were, but said, “Let’s just say that they may not have corresponded properly with the medications that he was currently taking.”

However, Feldman had noticed a marked shift in his friend since his mother, with whom Haim was living in a month-to-month rental property, was diagnosed with cancer.

“He shaped up. He got his act together,” Feldman said. “When his mom got ill, it was the first time I ever saw Corey grow up.”

Feldman said “a sizeable memorial” will be planned for Haim – which he hopes will be well-attended. “You see these people making great statements and that’s wonderful and I hope they’re all there for the memorial and I hope they’re all there for the funeral. But where were they during his life?”

The cause of Whipple’s disease is infection with the bacterium Tropheryma whipplei. This bacterium can initially affect the mucosal lining of your small intestine, forming small lesions within the intestinal wall. With time, the infection can spread to other parts of your body.

Not much is known about the bacterium. Although it seems readily present in the environment, scientists don’t really know where it comes from or how it’s transmitted to humans.  Not everyone who carries the bacterium develops the disease. Some researchers believe that people with the disease may have a genetic defect in their immune system response that makes them more susceptible to becoming ill when exposed to the bacterium.

Whipple’s disease is extremely uncommon. Recent estimates are that it affects one person in a million each year.

Because so little is known about the bacterium that causes Whipple’s disease, risk factors for the disease haven’t been clearly identified. Based on available reports, it appears more likely to affect men than women, with the greatest prevalence in the 30 to 60 age group. It also seems to occur most commonly in whites in North America and Europe.

Voltaren Gel contains diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs). Diclofenac works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

Voltaren Topical Gel is used to treat joint pain in the hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, or feet caused by osteoarthritis. This medication may not be effective in treating arthritis pain elsewhere in the body.

Important information about Voltaren Gel

Seek emergency medical help if you have symptoms of heart or circulation problems, such as chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, or problems with vision or balance.

Voltaren can also increase your risk of serious effects on the stomach or intestines, including bleeding or perforation (forming of a hole). These conditions can be fatal and gastrointestinal effects can occur without warning at any time while you are using an NSAID. Older adults may have an even greater risk of these serious gastrointestinal side effects.

Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.

Before using Voltaren Gel

Do not use Voltaren Gel if you are allergic to diclofenac (Cataflam, Voltaren), aspirin, or another NSAID. Do not use just before or after having heart bypass surgery (also called coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG).

• kidney disease;
• high blood pressure; or
• congestive heart failure.

Voltaren Gel may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Diclofenac can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use Voltaren Gel without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

How should I use Voltaren Gel?

Use Voltaren Gel exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.

Voltaren Gel may come with patient instructions for safe and effective use. Follow these directions carefully. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

Do not use Voltaren Gel on an open skin wound, or on areas of eczema, infection, skin rash, or burn injury. Wait until the condition has fully healed before using Voltaren Gel.

Do not cover the treated skin with a bandage or expose it to heat from a hot tub, heating pad, sauna, or heated water bed. Heat or bandaging can increase the amount of drug you absorb through your skin and may cause harmful effects.

Wash your hands after applying Voltaren Gel, unless you are treating the skin on your hands. Do not wear gloves for at least 10 minutes after applying Voltaren Gel to the hands.

After you apply Voltaren Gel, wait at least 10 minutes before dressing and at least 1 hour before you bathe or shower.

To treat osteoarthritis pain with Voltaren Gel: This medicine is supplied with dosing cards that show you how much gel to use for a 2-gram dose or a 4-gram dose. Squeeze the gel onto this card along the line for your dose. Use no more gel than will fit on the length of your dosing line. Wipe the card directly onto the treatment area and rub gently into the skin. Each dosing card is for only one use.

Always use a dosing card to measure your Voltaren Gel dose. Fold the card and throw it away in a place where children and pets cannot get to it. A used dosing card will still have a small amount of diclofenac gel on it.

To treat arthritis pain in the foot, spread the Voltaren Gel out onto all areas of the foot including the toes and soles. When treating the hand, spread the gel out onto all areas of the hand including the fingers and palms.

When treating osteoarthritis, keep using any oral medications your doctor has prescribed.

If you use Voltaren Gel for a long period of time, your liver function may need to be checked with blood tests on a regular basis. Do not miss any scheduled visits to your doctor.

Store Voltaren Gel at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to use the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose. Do not wear a diclofenac skin patch for longer than 12 hours.

What happens if I overdose?

An overdose of Voltaren Gel applied to the skin is unlikely to occur. Seek emergency medical attention if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.

What should I avoid while using Voltaren Gel?

Do not use cosmetics, sunscreen, lotions, insect repellant, or other medicated skin products not prescribed by your doctor. Avoid getting Voltaren Gel in your mouth or eyes. If it does get into any of these areas, rinse with water. Avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays (sunlamps or tanning beds) while you are using Voltaren Gel.

While you are using Voltaren Gel, avoid taking oral (pill form) of aspirin or NSAIDs such as ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), diclofenac (Cataflam, Voltaren), etodolac (Lodine), indomethacin (Indocin), meloxicam (Mobic), nabumetone (Relafen), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others;

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Voltaren Gel: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Although the risk of serious side effects is low when diclofenac is applied to the skin, you should be aware of side effects that can occur if the medication is absorbed into your bloodstream.

Stop using Voltaren Gel and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

• chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance;
• bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
• swelling or rapid weight gain;
• urinating less than usual or not at all;
• nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
• fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; or
• bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness.

Less serious Voltaren Gel side effects may include:

• dryness, itching, peeling, or scaling of treated skin; or
• fever, chills, sore throat, body aches or other flu symptoms.

Lalate reports about the Ventura tsunami that the Ventura CA Harbor Office stated, “Right now our priority is dealing with life over property.” According to the Ventura County Star, “Despite broadcast reports that Ventura Harbor has suffered damage from the tsunami surge today, harbor officials said there was some erosion but no major incidents or significant damage during a six-foot tidal surge. Harbor officials said their focus was on getting offshore boats into the harbor.”
