Most individuals on earth nowadays suffer from some sort of phobia. In other words, they are visibly fearful of some things, although their fear may be irrational. The list of fears that many individuals suffer from is somewhat long, although some of the fears might be little known. One somewhat unknown fear is Erythrophobia, or the fear of blushing excessively.

The worry of blushing excessively is not an uncommon phobia. Indeed, it is more common than you would imagine. Lots of individuals on earth have a tendency to blush due to many physical or psychological factors. The reason is generally one or two of those factors, i.e., a psychological sensitivity to the personal beliefs that others have of you or an hyper nervous system.

Erythrophobia, or the fear of blushing excessively, begins owing to a lack of confidence and is for the most part widespread in individuals who blush easily and who have a tendency to over-value other people’s judgment of oneself. Such individuals become greatly uneasy with the way they look when they blush, instead of what caused it to start with.

An individual suffering from Erythrophobia is dreadfully conscious about the colour of his or her own skin at any given time. However, it is not bad skin or marked skin that frightens them but a wholly natural increased reddening of their cheeks. A few people with a worry of blushing excessively might really struggle to resist it and stop it from taking place completely.

Just as how an individual suffering from excessive acne becomes really unnerved with what he or she looks like, someone who has the worry of blushing excessively becomes paranoid about the colouring of their face. They become totally occupied with trying not to blush. They get a completely illogical fear of blushing excessively.

Unless you have Erythrophobia, it might sound illogical to you. But, it makes total sense to those who have it. Erythrophobia affects each and every part of their career and family life, over and above the interactions that they have with their family and friends.

The worry of blushing excessively might in reality cause depression and anxiety and even other social phobias. It can in reality cause suicidal thoughts too if the sufferer does not seek any assistance and falls so much into depression that there is no turning back. Sadly, it is only other individuals who have experienced the same phobia who can wholly appreciate the problem, as most non-sufferers remain in ignorance. However, not pointing out a blush to someone who blushes often might in reality aid him or her to understand that it is normal.
